    La categoria delle “seicento” esiste oramai da 15 anni. Chi non si ricorda il classico CBR600 a sfondo bianco con la sella verde o viola? All’epoca i cavalli erano circa ottanta e la moto era già sportiva, ma la posizone in sella e le quote del telaio ne facevano un mezzo adatto anche alle medio/lunghe percorrenze: vederne una con un bauletto montato sul codino non è mai stato uno shock.
    Facciamo ora un salto nel 2004: i cavalli sono diventati quasi centoventi, il peso è diminuito drasticamente e tutta la progettazione del mezzo avviene sfuttando appieno tutto il know-how aquisito sui campi di gara.

    A lightning-quick glance shows 150 mph on the digital speedometer with the tachometer needle hitting redline at 15,500 rpm in fifth. It's a not-so-balmy 37 degrees, and I am working overtime at hiding as much of my vented leathers behind the GSX-R's narrow fairing as possible. Willing some blood into my frozen fingers, I roll off the throttle and onto the brakes, sliding rearward to keep the rear wheel on the floor. Downshifting, I dive left for the horseshoe and rail round on a steadily increasing throttle, before nailing it back up to the redline.
