Oriental riders have a completely different approach to big scooters than do their European counterparts. Italian scooteristi believe a scooter, no matter how big, is strictly for cutting through traffic in cities laid out for medieval traffic.
Hence the 500cc Piaggio X9, with its vivid acceleration and insanely quick steering and no wider than a 125 or much heavier, with firm suspension and ground clearance that would do credit to a superbike.
